LOWER SCHOOL SAFETY ACTIVITIES
Over the past few weeks our lower school students have participated in many safety related presentations and activities, including the Officer Phil Safety Program, an American Red Cross Health Program, and a Fire Safety Program. The Officer Phil Safety Program was presented to our lower school students in grades PreK-3. During the assembly, Officer Phil went over a variety of common safety rules that pertain to our youngest students. The topics included bike safety, school bus safety, street safety, and strangers. The American Red Cross Health Program, entitled Scrubby Bear and Miss Penny was presented to lower school students in grades preK-2. With flu season upon us, our students learned about the importance of washing hands and tips about staying healthy from Scrubby Bear himself. The Lower School Fire Safety program was presented by Firefighters from the Mitchell Fire Company. Lower Schools students in grades PreK-6 participated in the program that brought two fire trucks, along with all the gear and tools to Doane's campus. Students learned about fire safety and even had the opportunity to explore a real fire truck!
