Cash gifts to the Bishop Doane Annual Fund
With a a $350,000 annual goal, these unrestricted funds balance the operating budget and support faculty salaries, utilities, and all the essentials of the School. And the Annual Fund effort keeps tuition affordable for our diverse student population.
Cash gifts to capital projects
These gifts support current scheduled capital needs: infrastructure improvements such as kitchen and restroom renovations, window replacement, faculty compensation, faculty professional development, student scholarships, and unrestricted endowment.
Corporate matching gifts
Your employer may match your donation to St. Mary’s Hall-Doane Academy. If you'd like a listing of the participating companies, let us know.
Endowments
These are created when a major gift is held and invested. The interest earned can be used for operating funds or for a specific purpose such as faculty professional development like the one recently funded through the E. E. Ford Foundation. You can make gifts to strengthen an existing endowed fund or you can work with the Headmaster’s Office on creating a newly designed fund.
Life Income
A Charitable Lead Trust provides current income to St. Mary’s Hall-Doane Academy while sheltering your heirs’ inheritance from taxes. Income generated from the assets placed in trust is paid to the school for a period of years, after which the property is transferred to your heirs at a substantial tax savings.
A Charitable Remainder Trust irrevocably transfers cash, securities or other property to a trust for the benefit of St. Mary’s Hall-Doane Academy. The donor or designated beneficiary receives a fixed dollar amount or percentage of the assets at least annually for life or for a fixed term up to 20 years. Upon death, or the end of the term, the trust terminates and the assets are transferred to the School.
Bequests
Through a gift in your will, you can be part of the education of future generations. Bequests permit donors to commit assets that they might need during their lifetimes. You can bequeath a percentage of your estate, a fixed dollar amount, or specific personal property.
Appreciated stock gifts
Many donors find it advantageous to make Annual Fund or restricted gifts in the form of appreciated stocks. They are able to transfer a valuable gift to St. Mary’s that would otherwise require payment of capital gains taxes.
Gifts in kind
Gifts in kind go beyond the essentials to improve how the School looks and works. Our largest gifts in kind often come from people who are able to shift some of the chips their business has earned in our direction.
Auction
Secure a major gift to be auctioned at the Spring Auction. Plan to attend the auction and use it as an opportunity to introduce new friends to the School.
Build relationships for a good cause
Represent your positive experience as a student, a parent or a friend to prospective families and donors.
Volunteer
Take the time to know the School’s programs, people, and facilities — and take the initiative to improve or sustain it/them. Join us for a Saturday clean-up when we close ranks around all kinds of school improvement projects. Offer to help with special events or invite family and friends to attend Doane’s Dungeon, the Italian Holiday Dinner, the Christmas Mystery, the Spring Auction, concerts, book fairs, Open Houses, and athletic events.
