Welcome from the Headmaster |

Thank you for considering Doane Academy. Episcopal Bishop George Washington Doane founded our School in 1837 as a serious academic institution for young women. Over 170 years, we’ve changed from a boarding school to a day school, from a girls’ school to a constitutional school, and later to a co-educational school. Yet we’ve sustained our commitment to a rigorous academic program and the development of character, leadership, and spiritual maturity. And we’ve retained our original stunning location on the Delaware river. |

Doane Academy is a respected independent college preparatory school, but it is not the school for everyone. We encourage parents to carefully research what Doane Academy offers and requires. The School, in turn, honestly and professionally evaluates each application and student record to increase the likelihood that those students who are accepted will succeed. Doane graduates tend to be strong, independent thinkers with the courage and conviction to make a difference in their communities and in the world. We hope your visit to our website is the beginning of a long-term relationship with value to all concerned. John F. McGee |
